Latin America and the Caribbean discuss the future of food security at the 39th FAO Regional Conference

From March 2 to 6, in Brasilia, Brazil, the 39th FAO Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean will be held, the main political and technical space to discuss food security and sustainable agriculture in the region.

Latin America and the Caribbean has shown progress in reducing hunger, but still faces deep inequalities, as well as climate and economic pressures that threaten these achievements. The decisions adopted at this meeting will set the regional roadmap for the coming years.

During the Conference, the ministers of the Member States:

  • Will discuss how to address hunger, the high cost of healthy diets, climate change, and the transformation of agrifood systems.
  • Will define the regional priorities for 2026–2027 in food and agriculture.

It will be attended by the FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, authorities of the Government of Brazil, and ministers from across the region.
