Brasilia, Brazil, August 21, 2023 – The project Consolidation of School Feeding Programmes in Latin America and the Caribbean, executed within the framework of the Brazil-FAO International Cooperation Programme, released the English version of the document ‘Regulatory Frameworks for Sustainable School Feeding – A Dialogue based on the Latin America and Caribbean Scenario’.
The document aims to share some regional experiences regarding the development and implementation process of legal and regulatory frameworks for school feeding. Additionally, it seeks to identify fundamental elements for their development, indicating challenges, lessons learned, and successful experiences.
The publication is directed towards managers, technicians, parliamentarians, policy-makers, stakeholders in the school community, and professionals who have an interest, willingness, and intention to draft a bill in favor of school feeding.
The document developed by the school feeding project of the Brazil-FAO International Cooperation highlights the paths, progress, and challenges faced by the various countries in Latin America and the Caribbean for the strengthening, consolidation, and institutionalization of their school feeding programmes as a fundamental public policy in guaranteeing the human right to adequate and healthy food in the school setting.
The project Consolidation of School Feeding Programmes in Latin America and the Caribbean is carried out jointly by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ABC/MRE), the National Fund for Educational Development of the Ministry of Education (FNDE/MEC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization.
