The awards ceremony will be held on 4 December to recognise the good practices and leadership of schools in implementing food and nutrition education as agents of change for other schools at national level and in the LAC region, to motivate the sustainability of actions in schools and to encourage the exchange of experiences with other schools so that good practices can be scaled up.
Educational centres that have managed to develop good practices in implementing EAN strategies and promoting the sustainable school model, involving community participation, promoting healthy school environments, enhancing menus with locally produced food from family farms, establishing healthy school shops, promoting healthy habits and respect for the environment, etc.
These schools and their staff became key agents in disseminating these good practices to teachers from more than a thousand schools that participated in the first and second cohorts of the Diploma in the Development of Healthy and Sustainable School Environments, as well as sharing these experiences with other countries in the Latin American and Caribbean region that began similar training processes for teachers this year.
MINEDUCYT, as an active partner of the Sustainable School Feeding Network (RAES), has been supported by the Brazil-FAO International Cooperation Programme, the Brazilian Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of External Relations (ABC/MRE), the National Fund for Educational Development of the Ministry of Education (FNDE/MEC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which have provided technical and financial support for the development of educational strategies such as capacity building of PASE technical staff, teachers and students.
