Cooperation through the Sustainable School Feeding Network (RAES), created in 2018, has worked intensively on technical assistance with the exchange of experiences and knowledge with Latin American and Caribbean countries. Actors and representatives of the Cuban government have participated in different spaces and activities, such as virtual dialogues between RAES countries, technical missions to learn about the Sustainable Schools methodology, good practices in school feeding programmes and training.
Recently, the Cuban government promoted the implementation of the Food Sovereignty and Nutrition Education Plan, which includes guidelines for the Cuban state to manage local, sovereign and sustainable food systems based on intersectoral coordination and the participation of all actors involved in food production, processing, marketing and consumption, as well as the promotion of a food culture and nutrition education to improve the health of the Cuban population.
The objective of the training, promoted by Brazil-FAO International Cooperation, is to create a space for dialogue between government officials, SFP stakeholders and FAO representatives, with the support of the Sustainable School Feeding Network (RAES), to strengthen school feeding in order to guarantee the human right to adequate food for children and adolescents in Cuba. It will also present the proposal for the future implementation of the Sustainable Schools methodology in the education community.
The virtual course will be launched on 18 September at 9 am in Cuba
