This training is in response to a request from the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis to the Brazil-FAO Cooperation to support the training of school feeding managers for the future implementation of the Sustainable Schools Pilot Project, which targets the entire school environment and serves as a comprehensive platform to improve the nutrition and health status of the student population and, by extension, the community.
Actions are proposed to develop the capacity of professionals through virtual trainings to work on themes and concepts to change the paradigm of school feeding in the two islands, promoting access to quality, healthy, and nutritious food for students. In addition, it is important to prepare all the ways for the implementation of the Sustainable Schools methodology in the next phase.
The aim of the activity is to contribute to the strengthening of the school feeding programme in St. Kitts and Nevis by promoting actions and dialogue among various stakeholders to jointly develop components that promote healthy and sustainable schools and local economic development.
The course will be divided into four virtual sessions from September to October and will be attended by 50 school food service managers nominated by the Government of St Kitts and Nevis. The launch of the course will take place in St. Kitts and Nevis on 10 September at 6 p.m. and will be attended by the governments of Brazil, representing the Brazil-FAO International Cooperation, and St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as FAO representatives and guests from the countries participating in the RAES activities.
