RAES participates in the Nutrition For Growth (N4G) Summit in Paris and organizes a side event at the Brazilian Embassy in France

The RAES Network will take part in actions organized within the framework of the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit and will also organize a side event with representatives of the Brazilian government.

Brasília, Brazil, March 26, 2025 – The Sustainable School Feeding Network (RAES) will participate on March 26, 27, and 28 in events organized within the framework of the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit in Paris. During the same week, it will also organize a side event with representatives of the Brazilian government at the country’s Embassy in France.

RAES’s participation begins on Tuesday, March 26, at the pre-opening event, which will feature scientific conferences and the presence of French ministers, among other government authorities. The network’s executive secretariat will be represented by the senior specialist in school feeding from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Prof. Dr. Najla Veloso. Additionally, on March 27 and 28, RAES will participate in the summit’s activities, and on March 28, it will be part of the panel at the side event on school feeding.

The objective of the N4G Summit is to discuss, with high-level political actors, researchers, and professionals, how to enhance global nutrition security through quality food and healthy, diverse, and balanced diets. The side event, in turn, will address the contributions of school feeding.

RAES will be part of the Brazilian delegation, which will be led by First Lady Janja Lula da Silva and will include representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), the Ministry of Social Development, Assistance, Family, and Fight Against Hunger (MDS), the Ministry of Health (MS), and the National Fund for Educational Development (FNDE), which is linked to the Ministry of Education (MEC). The Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), a division of the MRE, will also be present.

Side Event

The Government of Brazil, through ABC and FNDE, along with RAES, FAO, and the World Food Programme’s (WFP) Centre of Excellence Against Hunger, as part of the Trilateral South-South Cooperation, will organize the event on March 28 titled “Uniting efforts around the world to ensure that all children have access to nutritious school meals.”

The event will bring together key stakeholders in the global effort to guarantee that all students have access to nutritious school meals through complementary and collaborative international initiatives. The discussion will explore how various initiatives and mechanisms can work in synergy to ensure that all students have access to nutritious food.

Brazil’s Role

Together with UN agencies and other partners, Brazil has played a leading role in promoting sustainable school feeding programs. The country is one of the co-chairs of the Global School Meals Coalition and a promoter of RAES, initiatives that demonstrate Brazil’s ability to foster innovative actions to ensure universal access to nutritious meals in schools.

Furthermore, the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, of which RAES is a part, will be one of the key topics of Brazil’s participation in the Summit. The delegation will highlight the convergence between the commitments to be presented at the N4G Summit and the objectives of the Alliance, especially in the areas of school feeding, social protection, and the transformation of food systems with a focus on health, nutrition, and climate resilience.

The Alliance will also be presented as a concrete platform to support the implementation and expansion of these commitments at the national level, promoting effective and coordinated actions to combat hunger and extreme poverty by 2030.
