26 July 2023 – The launch of the Food and Nutrition Education (FNE) teacher training courses in 8 Latin American countries will take place on 27 July, at 15h30 in Chile, through a virtual event. This event will be a joint action of the Brazil-FAO International Cooperation, the FAO Representation and the Government of Ecuador.
The Brazil-FAO International Cooperation is made up of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC/MRE), the National Fund for Educational Development (FNDE/MEC) and FAO. This initiative seeks to provide tools, through training for teachers in Latin America, to support the planning and implementation of projects and/or actions with a focus on EAN and linked to school feeding programmes.
In addition, it is a response to the demand from countries to strengthen the profile of teachers as multipliers and facilitators of this knowledge in their area of intervention at school level.
The virtual event officially launches the training process for Ecuadorian teachers in the framework of the Brazil-FAO Cooperation. The activity is also a way to engage country stakeholders in dialogues about the importance of the EAN as part of strengthening school feeding in the region.
The event will be attended by government authorities, professionals linked to the Ecuadorian School Feeding Programme, technical teams from the different FAO representations in the region, teachers and participants enrolled in the courses and diploma courses in the countries where the training is taking place.
Finally, the teams of national tutors and focal points of the Brazil-FAO Cooperation School Feeding Project in Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and the Dominican Republic will join in.
