See the speech he made at the RAES Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>President Nasry Asfura participated in the event\u2019s official opening ceremony; watch the video. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Comayagua, Honduras, August 31, 2026<\/strong> \u2013 At the opening of the meeting of the Sustainable School Feeding Network (RAES) in Honduras on August 25, 2026, President Nasry Asfura participated in the event and highlighted the Honduran Government\u2019s commitment to strengthening school feeding. His participation was recorded and broadcast by Honduran National Television and several local media outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the occasion, Asfura announced the strengthening of the school feeding programme and emphasized the importance of this policy. \u201cToday we are brought together by something that is fundamental to us: the future of our children, to give them the opportunity to have better nutrition and, consequently, a better education and better development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"597\" src=\"https:\/\/redraes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-1024x597.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32472\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.7150997150997151;width:602px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redraes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-1024x597.png 1024w, https:\/\/redraes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-300x175.png 300w, https:\/\/redraes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-767x447.png 767w, https:\/\/redraes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image.png 1069w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The objective of the RAES in-person meeting, entitled \u201cSchool Feeding: Building Sustainable and Inclusive Agrifood Systems,\u201d was to enable countries to advance in defining agreements and actions in line with the priorities selected by the countries in the RAES Regional School Feeding Agenda, and to develop coordinated responses to the region\u2019s main challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting in Comayagua was jointly organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Government of Brazil, through the Brazilian Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ABC\/MRE) and the National Fund for Education Development (FNDE), with the Government of Honduras as host, through the Secretariat of Social Development (SEDESOL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mensaje del presidente de Honduras, Nasry Asfura, en la apertura del Encuentro de la RAES 2026\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1AxRcbZxc3s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Appreciation for international cooperation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asfura expressed his appreciation for the support and backing provided by the Government of Brazil, FAO and the countries participating in RAES, and highlighted the role that international cooperation can play in improving policies aimed at children. \u201cSchool feeding is not just a plate of food; it is about helping a child learn, grow up healthy and have better opportunities,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National School Feeding Programme (PNAE) serves more than 1.215 million students in 21,580 educational institutions. At a press conference held as part of the RAES event, Asfura explained that the Government currently allocates 1.022 billion lempiras (US$38 million) to school feeding, a figure he said will be increased next year with the aim of improving the programme\u2019s quality and coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEvery year, we have to increase our efforts, become more efficient in production, delivery and in the quality we can provide to our children every day,\u201d he said. \u201cWe want to continue improving and providing food, but we also need to strengthen our producers and their families in rural areas,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"443\" src=\"https:\/\/redraes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-1-1024x443.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32473\" style=\"aspect-ratio:2.3153846153846156;width:602px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redraes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-1-1024x443.png 1024w, https:\/\/redraes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-1-300x130.png 300w, https:\/\/redraes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-1-767x332.png 767w, https:\/\/redraes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-1.png 1083w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBringing the best possible meal to our children at school is a priority. We want this meal to be produced within the community itself, so that food can be produced locally and delivered to schools, generating greater production and development in our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fish<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also highlighted the importance of including fish in school meals as a way to diversify children\u2019s diets while strengthening local development. \u201cWhy not include fish as well?
