The ‘II International Congress on School Feeding – Building Paths for Food and Nutritional Education’ took place on May 23rd, 24th, and 25th in Brasilia, Brazil. The event had the participation of approximately 350 professionals from Brazil and other 11 Latin American countries who were involved in the activities and events of the Sustainable School Feeding Network (RAES, by its Spanish acronym).

The congress was organized by the National Fund for Educational Development of the Ministry of Education (FNDE/MEC) in conjunction with the Brazil-FAO International Cooperation Programme, under the project Consolidation of School Feeding Programmes in Latin America and the Caribbean. The project is also carried out by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of External Relations (ABC/MRE) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The objective of the congress was to bring together professionals from Brazil and different countries to discuss the importance of food and nutritional education (FNE) in the implementation of school feeding programmes and within the school environment.

During the same period, RAES organized specific events for programme managers, coordinators, vice ministers, and other stakeholders from countries such as Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Panama. These events included high-level agendas, seminars, and field visits in Brasilia, taking place from May 22nd to May 26th.
