From October 25 to 27, countries from Africa, Europe and Latin America will exchange knowledge about public procurement; there will be translation for English, Spanish and French.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) jointly with the German Institute for Development and Sustainability (IDOS) are promoting the International Exchange Forum on Sustainable Public Food Procurement 2022.
The forum will bring together experts from Africa, Europe and Latin America for a cross-border exchange, which will take place virtually, from October 25 to October 27,and will discuss the application of sustainable public food procurement practices to catalyze a shift towards sustainable urban food systems.
In the International Exchange Forum, a diverse range of cross-sectoral stakeholders from governments, NGOs, academia and the private sector will have the opportunity to exchange on their experiences and learn about challenges and opportunities regarding sustainable public food procurement.
Participants will be able to view a wide variety of sessions, including regional sessions with in-depth discussions, power networking and city exchanges. At the event, you will be hearing insightful perspectives and inputs on topics, such as:
- the role and responsibility of local governments,
- the link of SPFP to the broader debate on public procurement,
- the entry points for transforming current agri-food systems to be more sustainable,
- the inclusion of vulnerable groups,
- the importance of procurement officer networks, and
- the regulatory challenges.
The event encourages mutual learning and invites everyone to share experiences on the challenges faced and how they were overcome. The event will have simultaneous translation to English, Spanish and French. Participation is possible either in the entire event or on single days according to one’s thematic interests.
