International technical mission_ Sustainable Schools in Peru

The Brazil-FAO International Cooperation with the RAES has been supporting the Peruvian government since 2012 in the design of the Qali Warma Program, developed and operated by the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (MIDIS), with other government sectors. The Government of Peru recently reported that it is in its interest to establish a more specific dialogue with Brazilian managers on school feeding policy. They have also requested that a mission be carried out in Peruvian territory to strengthen and promote even more advances in the policy, in addition to strengthening the visibility of the successful experiences carried out in the Junín region, where the Sustainable Schools methodology was implemented with the support of the Brazil-FAO International Cooperation. .

In addition, the activity will carry out the completion stage of the “Joint Strategy for the Strengthening of Sustainable School Feeding Programs (PAES) in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) – safe environment during and post pandemic“, which is configured as a short course on food handling and safety issues.

The mission will take place in the city of Lima, in Peru, from August 14 to 17, 2023. The methodology will have dialogue spaces, specific conversations with the participants and local actors of the institutions, and there will also be territorial field visits to learn about the successful experiences of the municipalities that have implemented the Sustainable Schools methodology. At the end of the mission, it will be used to celebrate the completion of teacher training in Peru, with the participation of authorities, teachers and managers and also testimonials about the course.

Within the framework of the mission organized by FAO-Peru and the Brazil-FAO Cooperation, international participants will be taken into account, representatives of the countries that make up the RAES in Latin America, representatives of FAO Peru and FAO Brazil, the Government of Brazil and Government of Peru.
