Third Session of the course “Resilient and Sustainable School Feeding Programs” for the Caribbean.

On June 6th, the third session of the virtual training for Caribbean professionals involved in the topic of school feeding took place. Approximately 60 professionals participated in the training to engage in dialogue and exchange experiences regarding governance, policies, and regulatory frameworks for school feeding programmes.

The activity was jointly organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the school feeding project of the Brazil-FAO International Cooperation Program, the Mexico-CARICOM-FAO Initiative and the Caribbean Agroeconomic Society (CAAES), in association with the University of the West Indies (UWI). Also, the training was an integral part of the 34th West Indies Agricultural Economics Conference 2023, held in Nassau, Bahamas.

The session concluded with a commitment from FAO, the Governments of Mexico and Brazil, and CAAES/UWI to continue collaborating with Caribbean countries in strengthening their school feeding programmes, aiming to provide a healthy diet with products from family farming.
